This Thursday's match against Borussia Dortmund was a complete nightmare for Tottenham Hotspur and manager Mauricio Pochettino, the London club was pummeled 3-0 and they really had no chance to respond during the whole match. A big part of blame was for the Argentine for deciding to use some of the youngsters for this match and leave Harry Kane and Erik Lamela on the bench thinking about the rest of the Premier League fixtures this season. The coach accepted his fault for the bad choices, and hopes the team can get back from this upset.
“We need to fight — 3-0 is not a good result. It was a bad day, a very bad day. It’s difficult to explain and we are disappointed with our performance. We did not play well and this is why we lost. Never complain about the team. You always try to select the better team and when you have bad day it’s like a collective performance. We need to fight in the return leg next week. Three nil is not a good result for us but we still need to keep working hard and try next Thursday. This was our first time losing 3-0 this season. We need to be calm and be sure it doesn't happen again,"
Defender Kevin Wimmer was also very disappointed: “It was a very bad result for us - and the performance was very bad. It would have very good had we scored one goal. But we have to score three times at White Hart Lane. Maybe if we score and early goal you never know what can happen but it will be a very tough game for us. It was a very disappointing performance. Against a team like Dortmund you can’t play like this, especially away. From the first to the 90th minute we couldn’t play well. They played good football and we didn’t press them well and if you don’t for that it becomes very hard.”
