Galeno scored twice more to help Porto defeat Shakhtar Donetsk 5-3 and advance to the Champions League round of 16. Despite a 3-2 setback in Antwerp, Porto moves up to second position behind Barcelona, who won Group H. Shakhtar, in third place, will go to the Europa League playoffs. In the ninth minute, Galeno scored the first goal after fellow Brazilian Evanilson's assist found him at the far post.
Twenty minutes later, Danylo Sikan scored a close-range equaliser, but just before the half, Galeno scored an incredible goal from well beyond the box. Early in the second half, Mehdi Taremi gave Porto a 3-1 advantage. Stephen Eustaquio's own goal cut the margin to one, but in the 75th minute, seasoned defender Pepe improved his record as the oldest player to score in the Champions League by scoring from close range to make it 4-2.
