Galeno scored two goals and assisted on a third to help Porto cruise to a 3-1 victory against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Tuesday, giving Ukrainian champion Shakhtar Donetsk a setback in their new, temporary home in Germany. Despite the backing for Shakhtar, Porto scored the game's first goal less than eight minutes into play when Galeno capitalised on a speculative effort that Shakhtar goalkeeper Dmytro Riznyk mishandled after returning from injury.
Since the invasion last year, Shakhtar's focus has moved from acquiring excellent Brazilian players to younger players and more locally produced talent. The 19-year-old Venezuelan attacker Kevin Kelsy, who levelled the score at 1-1 in his Champions League debut in the 13th, was one of five starters who were 22 or younger. His goal in the 13th minute set off ecstatic celebrations.
