Puyol and Xavi urge Ter Stegen to keep risking it

Granted, FC Barcelona usually wants goalkeepers who are good with their feet, German goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen is considered the best goalkeeper in the world when it comes to quality with the ball at his feet. But anyone is prone to make mistakes, some really awful like the one he made against Celta last weekend. But far from hiding behind his infamous moment, the German came out and took the blame for what he did. This prompted Xavi and Puyol's quick response and advice for the man.

Talking to Marca, Puyol gave his two cents on Ter Stegen's mistake: "For me, Ter Stegen is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, brings a lot and speaking as a supporter, has my full support. It's worse when a goalkeeper makes errors because you're closer to the goal. You have to continue with the same confidence, but he has character to spare, so there should be no problem."

Xavi also said: "I didn't watch the game against Celta, but Barcelona has always taken many risks and the goalkeeper's work is never valued, many times we don't defend his quality. A goalie's mistake is logically much more evident. We have to tell Ter Stegen that he is very brave, keep on daring because that's what Barcelona's football is about, it's about proposing and that's what he does."
