Michael Beale wants Rangers to improve on their "wasteful" performance in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League third-round qualifying match against Servette. The Scottish team had an early two-goal lead thanks to goals from James Tavernier and Cyriel Dessers before the Swiss side equalised on the stroke of half-time. Rangers held on to win and take a 2-1 lead into the second leg next Tuesday, but boss Beale was frustrated his team couldn't produce more goals from 22 shots.
Despite the disappointment of taking a one-goal lead to Switzerland next week, Beale was glad his squad secured a lead, but understands there is still work to be done if they are to qualify for the play-off round. "I'll never dismiss a win in European competition because I know how difficult they are to come by," he remarked.
