Rayo gained bragging rights in a tense 1-0 home victory over Getafe

By the end of 2024–2025, Rayo Vallecano will once again be considered for a possible European qualifying spot. After pledging his future to Vallecas, Inigo Perez is attempting to lead Rayo back to Europe for the first time in more than 20 years. But only one league victory in 10 games before their Friday night derby matchup with rivals Getafe, his team's form has slipped at the worst possible moment.

Rayo gained bragging rights in a tense 1-0 home victory, but Jose Bordalas' club has slipped away from relegation danger in recent weeks and is almost ready to leap into the top half. On minute seven, Florian Lejeune, a French defender, headed home from a corner to give the home team a perfect start. Before halftime, Ramon Terrats blew a great opportunity to equalise, but Getafe reacted swiftly to the setback.
