At one end, Brais Mendez smacked a free kick against the crossbar before Abdul Mumin pounced on a sloppy clearing to put Rayo ahead. Captain Mikel Oyarzabal volleyed them level before the interval, and the visitors' No.10 calmly rolled home a penalty after the restart.
Rayo had one more sting in the tail, however, as replacement Bebe slammed home an equalizer in extra time.
