Rayo Vallecano secured the first win of 2022

Both Rayo Vallecano and Espanyol had 2 shots on target in this game and the same number of dangerous attacks. Yet Rayo Vallecano came up bigger after beating Espanyol in the game at the RCDE stadium. Diego Lopez and Stole Dmitrievski were involved equally throughout the first half. Sergi Guardiola shot the goal for his side.

In stoppage time, Raul de Tomas gave up a chance that disbelief was the prevailing emotion and the teams walked away from the pitch. With Espanyol pushing harder post-interval, Rayo was forced to defend which they did and had some luck shine upon them too. This win was much needed for Rayo Vallecano. This is the team’s first win of 2022 in 14 matches. With this, they are now 7 points clear of relegation, giving them a much-desired relief!
