With goals from Rômulo and Assan Ouédraogo, as well as a spectacular David Raum free kick, RB Leipzig defeated Cologne 3-1, ending their undefeated streak. The home team got off to a strong start with energetic high pressing, and Assan Ouédraogo's goal in the 13th minute marked his first Bundesliga start.
Ten minutes after falling behind, Cologne rallied and equalized via Jan Thielmann, who was passed through by Eric Martel and scored decisively with his left foot from the edge of the box. The visitors were energized by the equalizer, but Leipzig recovered and scored twice in the last few minutes of the first half. First, Schwäbe could only block Christoph Baumgartner's deft backheel before Rômulo tapped in from close range. The score was then 3-1 when David Raum curled a wonderful free-kick over the wall and into the net deep into stoppage time.
