RC Lens defeated Olympique Lyonnais 3-2

In an exciting game played at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis, RC Lens defeated Olympique Lyonnais 3-2 after suffering a crushing loss at Arsenal earlier in the week. After losing 6-0 to the Premier League leaders in their final Champions League match of the season, Lens had to be cautious against Oympique Lyonnais, who were playing in their first game since manager Fabio Grosso was fired. The outstanding summer acquisition, Elye Wahi, would also be missing for the hosts due to his dismissal during last weekend's victory against Clermont.

After fifteen minutes, defender Jake O'Brien gave Les Gones hope with a corner kick that sent Lyon in lead, but Wesley Saïd, starting in place of Wahi, would reply for Lens. Just after halftime, Prezmyslaw Frankowski scored off the bench to give Lens the lead. However, with fewer than twenty minutes remaining, O'Brien scored again to increase Lyon's hopes of earning a crucial point away from home.
