Real Madrid maintained their perfect start to the league with a 3-0 win at newly promoted Oviedo, thanks to Kylian Mbappé’s brace and a decisive cameo from Vinícius Júnior. Xabi Alonso opted to start with Vinícius on the bench, giving Rodrygo his first competitive start since June, and Madrid dominated early, racking up 17 shots to Oviedo’s one. The breakthrough came eight minutes before halftime when Mbappé superbly controlled Arda Güler’s pass before drilling a low finish into the far corner.
In the second half, Vinícius entered on 63 minutes and quickly made his mark, winning the ball in midfield and setting up Mbappé for his second. The Brazilian then added Madrid’s third with a composed finish to seal the points. Villarreal’s 5-0 thrashing of Girona kept them top, while elsewhere Osasuna edged Valencia and Real Sociedad drew 2-2 with Espanyol.
