Real Madrid has expressed interest in Mario Gila. As the January transfer window opens, the Merengues are looking for a centre defender. Additionally, they are focusing on the 23-year-old Lazio centre defender in anticipation of a potential loan transfer with a buyout option. Following his July 2022 transfer from Real Madrid to Lazio, Mario Gila has advanced gradually. The Spanish defender went through the youth ranks of Santa Perpetua de Moguda, CE Sabadell, CF Mollet UE, CF Damm, Espanyol, and Real Madrid throughout his formative years.
The 23-year-old graduated from Real Madrid’s fabled La Fabrica division but could not establish a foothold in the first-team squad at the Santiago Bernabeu. Gila made only two appearances for the Real Madrid first team, mainly representing the Castilla side during his time at the Spanish club.
