Rennes kept up their chase for Champions League football on Monday with both coming through after hard-fought 2-1 wins over Nice. Rennes earned three points at home thanks to Benjamin Bourigeaud's 89th-minute goal, but the Brittany team lost star attacker Martin Terrier to injury. After only five minutes, Terrier had already opened from close range, but thirty minutes later, with a right knee injury, he had to be carried away in excruciating pain. The 25-year-prognosis old's was "so far not very reassuring," according to coach Bruno Genesio.

After 20 minutes, Ross Barkley scored to break the tension, and then Bourigeaud scored after some excellent work from Flavien Tait to put Nice goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel on his heels. When Lille was held to a 1-1 draw at home by Reims, they lost the chance to move to sixth.
