We are starting to shift from being in the golden age of football with Ronaldo and Messi as the main dominating players, to an era that will bring a tough withdraw symptom that will make us miss those two amazing and unique players. But in order to takes out of that denial state, football has brought us two amazing players who won't replace Messi or Ronaldo but will do their best in trying to make us forget our heartbreak after they leave.
Those two players are Gareth Bale and Neymar, who for many are Ronaldo's and Messi's true heirs. The Brazilian is about to start playing the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and attempt to win the Gold Medal for the first time in history for his country. Bale reached the Euros semifinal in a historic fashion with Wales, he was the group leader and really deserves recognition. But Neymar is the one who seems more ahead in the race to become the first player who wins the Ballon d'Or after these two end their dominant spell.
To Brazilian legend Rivaldo, Neymar is the man who will do this. Talking to Barça TV, he said: "Today he [Neymar] has Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo in front of him, but Neymar is doing a good job and soon he will be the best the player. He's a great player and for sure he will be the best in the world. When Barca signed him I said he was a great player and that he could end up being one of the best in the world, and I think little by little he's actually doing that."
Rivaldo also spoke about Barcelona's upcoming season and the last: "Barca is as great as always. They've been playing very well for five or six years and people are very happy. Not just the Barca fans but everyone in the world who watches them on TV – they love how they play and I hope it can continue for many years. They are playing great every year, they had a good season last year. They didn't win the Champions League, but they had a great season."
