Roma defeated Fiorentina and made a strong case for a top four finish under Claudio Ranieri thanks to a goal from Artem Dovbyk and a string of outstanding saves from Mile Svilar. The Giallorossi used the same starting lineup that defeated Inter last week since this was a head-to-head matchup between clubs vying for a top four finish and Paulo Dybala's season was gone. In the Conference League semi-final matchup with Real Betis, the Viola switched up their lineup, bringing back Moise Kean and former Roma player Nicoló Zaniolo. However, Dodo and Danilo Cataldi were injured, while Luca Ranieri was suspended. Edoardo Bove, a Roma youth product making his first appearance at the Stadio Olimpico since his heart problems, was welcomed with open arms.

Lorenzo Pellegrini and Amir Richardson had long-range efforts deflected, but the first real chance was after 27 minutes when Kean turned Zeki Celik to go clear.
