Roma had an active summer transfer window

Roma had an active summer transfer window to bolster their squad under the leadership of Jose Mourinho, following their failure to secure a top-four finish in Serie A last season. Despite their summer signings, the club is not looking to halt their recruitment efforts as they approach the January transfer window.

The team is facing a defensive crisis with Chris Smalling and Marash Kumbulla dealing with long-term injuries, and Diego Llorente recently joining them on the injury list. While there's hope that Llorente will return after the international break, Roma needs to exercise patience with the injured players. Adding to their woes, summer signing Evan Ndicka is expected to participate in AFCON 2024 with the Ivory Coast, which will result in his absence for a significant portion of the season. Consequently, Mourinho will have to venture back into the transfer market to reinforce the defensive department.
