FC Schalke 04 faced SV Werder Bremen on Saturday, where Dominick Drexler scored the game-winning goal in stoppage time. In the 78th minute, Sepp van den Berg leveled for the Royal Blues after returning from injury. Only late in the second half did either of the goal scorers come off the bench. Werder forward Marvin Ducksch slotted the first goal of the match at the 18th minute giving the side an advantage over Schalke.
After falling down quite early on, Schalke was eager to square the score. The closest they came in the opening period was when Jiri Pavlenka deflected Simon Terodde's header over the crossbar (34’). Later Maximilian Philipp’s efforts went wide along with other efforts to level the game went in vain for Schalke. Later Van den Berg and Drexler turned the tide for the side, the Dutch centre-back found the bottom corner which leveled the match in the 81st minute and later Drexler’s injury time efforts resulted in a massive win for the hosts.
