Salah stoppage time winner earns Egypt dramatic win over Zimbabwe

Mohamed Salah struck in the 91st minute to clinch a dramatic 2-1 victory for Egypt against Zimbabwe in their opening fixture of the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Egyptians ultimately achieved their aim, albeit in the dying moments, following over 30 attempts on goal against a resolute Zimbabwe side. The Warriors had initially stunned their opponents by taking the lead in the 20th minute courtesy of Prince Dube.

City forward Omar Marmoush restored parity for the Egyptians in the 64th minute. This equaliser significantly ramped up the pressure on the Zimbabwean goal, expertly guarded by goalkeeper Washington Arubi.

With the clock ticking down and the Egyptian attackers seemingly lacking precision, Salah stepped up to deliver a brilliant finish from inside the box. His decisive strike ultimately secured all three points for his side, propelling them into second place in Group B, level on points with South Africa.
