Sassuolo defeated Benevento with 1-0 at Stadio Ciro Vigorito on Monday all thanks to Federico Barba’s own goal in the first half. Jeremie Boga played an important role during the match by running across the field and into the box only to confuse Barba in the end and poked the ball towards the goal and forced Barba to push it into his own net.
Boga had a good chance to score his first goal for the club since January but could not do so, later Giacomo Raspadori also missed out on scoring as well and Sassuolo’s Andrea Consigli worked hard as well at stopping two stoppage-time attacks that would have did them in. Sassuolo now sits on the eighth spot and displaced Hellas Verona for the position and Benevento is closer to relegation with just eight points safety in 16th place.
