After such a difficult first year at Atletico Madrid in which he barely played 12 official matches due to various injuries, Montenegrin centre-back Stefan Savic expects a better second year that can help Atletico Madrid win trophies. Coming from Italian club Fiorentina where he learned how to defend from the world famous Cantenaccio, Savic expects to put all those pointers to practice and finally prove why Diego Simeone trusted him in the first place.
Talking to Omnisport about this second season with the club, Savic expects a lot of improvement: "When I changed from Italy to Spain it wasn't easy, although I adapted very quickly. I was injured for two months. I had a calf problem. But that is the past and I think this year I am going to have more to show. I'm always trying to get the best out of me and improve every day."
Savic wanted to give his two cents on the whole Kevin Gameiro possible transfer to the Colchoneros, Stefan thinks it would be a great addition to the team: "He is a really good player with great characteristics. He's very fast and he is a goalscorer but I still don't know if he's ready to come or not so I cannot say anything else."
