Schalke linked with Maya Yoshida and Christopher Jullien

Schalke is looking for a replacement for Ko Itakura and has landed on free agent Maya Yoshida who seems to be their top target this season after they held talks with Christopher Jullien. The Bundesliga club would offer a one-year deal to the Japanese international and give him the option to extend at the end. This decision comes after the fact that the club wanted to sign Jullien on loan from Celtic and even held multiple talks to make that happen.

Schalke would not have the space for 2 centre-backs this summer thus the big defender would have to settle on going back to Lennoxtown. The 31-year-old does not enjoy a lot of prospects going back to Celtic Park but needs to come to an agreement with another club before the season begins. As for Schalke, they have picked out Yoshida as the successor for Itakura.
