It is anticipated that Seamus Coleman, the captain of Everton, will play his final season at Goodison Park after agreeing to a one-year contract extension with the Merseyside club.
The 35-year-old Ireland right defender, who cost only 60,000 pounds ($75,000) when he signed with the Toffees in January 2009, has participated in nearly 15 complete seasons of football. The Irishman's deal was scheduled to end this summer. His 422 Everton appearances rank him 13th all-time in the club's history. Even though Everton lost two different points for breaking Premier League spending regulations last season, they managed to avoid relegation. However, ownership concerns remain after an attempt to acquire the company by American investment group 777 Partners failed last month. It is anticipated that Everton will occupy their new waterfront stadium in time for the 2025–2026 campaign.
