Milan went to Spezia in search of a win that would put them atop the Serie A standings. They won 1-2 thanks to Daniel Maldini's first top-flight goal and a late Brahim Diaz winner, although they had to work harder than expected to beat Thiago Motta's Aquilotti. AC Milan earned a crucial three points after defeating Spezia courtesy of a late Brahim Diaz goal. The first half went goalless, with Milan having the most of possession but failing to hit the target with any significant attempts.

In the first half, Hernandez was Milan's most dangerous player, going on from midweek, but they needed to do a lot more to break down their opponents. In the second half, Milan came out stronger and easily broke down the Spezia defense. Maldini, a product of the program, scored the game's first goal.
