Serie A: Cagliari back Zenga to succeed

Zenga signed a contract until June 2021 after succeeding Rolando Maran at the Sardegna Arena, but the forced break has prevented him from getting his first Rossoblu match in the dugout.

Cagliari sacked Maran after an 11-game winless streak in Serie A, including a Coppa Italia exit, and Zenga was given the job to turn things around in Sardinia.

The sporting director Carli has claimed the former goalkeeper can give them the needed confidence and confirmed that the club is looking forward to the next season with the 60-year-old at the helm.

“Unfortunately, he has not been able to play a single game since his arrival,” Carli told Sky Sport Italia. “He has a lot of enthusiasm and in the last 13 matches of the current season, he can gain confidence. However, the Cagliari coach for the next season will be Zenga”.
