Serie A: Salernitana Spezia 1-1

With only three points separating them and both teams hovering barely above the bottom three, this was a true relegation war. Due to injuries to Arkadiusz Reca, Joao Moutinho, Domen Crnigoj, and Pasquale Mazzocchi, Spezia's leading scorer M'Bala Nzola sat out the match. The visitors had a good start as Ethan Ampadu nearly cleared Antonio Candreva's shot off the line after Boulaye Dia's assist with a dinked ball. The headers from Viktor Kovalenko and Eldor Shomurodov, as well as Candreva and Medhi Bourabia, fell short of the calibre of Emanuel Gyasi's crosses.

Salernitana scored an odd goal to break the score when Mattia Caldara mistakenly shot his goalie while trying to anticipate Krzysztof Piatek. Before halftime, the visitors came dangerously close to doubling their advantage when Junior Sambia's shot around the far post was first stopped by Bartlomiej Dragowski, and then Piatek's header from the ensuing corner hit the crossbar.
