Serie A: Sassuolo 2-1 Verona

Federico Ceccherini, whose cross from the left was not collected by any Sassuolo defender and went through Thomas Henry's knees, gave Verona the lead early on. The goal was scored at the far post. After only a few minutes, Armand Laurienté equalized the score with a magnificent solo goal. The France winger made a sharp right side-foot finish at the far post after cutting inside from the left, racing past Isak Hien.

Verona responded immediately, but Yayah Kallon's offside caused Miguel Veloso's goal to be disallowed even before a VAR check was necessary. Verona persisted in pressing, but an excellent Consigli palmed away Lasagna's attempt. Sassuolo now leads the Serie A standings with 15 points after 11 games, while Verona has just five after losing its first two games under new manager Salvatore Bocchetti.
