Sevilla could only manage a 1-1 draw at Celta Vigo

The Andalucian giants are one of many La Liga teams vying for a position in Europe, but after a dismal start to the season, they will enter 2023 in 18th place overall. Galician international Jorgen Strand Larsen was stopped during the early parts of the match by Celta, but Gabriel Veiga snuck up from behind to put them in ahead.

Kike Salas scored Sevilla's first goal in the top tier shortly after the restart to tie the game with 30 minutes remaining. However, neither team was able to score in the dying minutes, and Jose Angel Carmona's late red card for Sevilla made the night even worse for them. Sevilla will play host to Linares Deportivo in the midweek Copa del Rey match, while Celta will travel to La Liga rivals Espanyol.
