Sevilla players break lockdown rules

Sevilla are due to face Roma in the Europa League Round of 16. They were discovered when Banega’s wife posted an image on social media showing that there were 12 people gathered together with friends and family around a table in what appeared to be a pool party.

The Spanish Government rules ban gatherings of over 10 people during the coronavirus pandemic.

According to AS and Marca, the players could now face fines from La Liga as well as the Government.

The players present included Vazquez, Ocampos, Banega and Luuk de Jong. Banega has already issued an apology “to our club, our fans and society in general. It won’t happen again. Now we just want to get back to playing as soon as possible.”
