Two goals from Kike Garcia five minutes apart handed the promoted Alaves a 4-3 win against Sevilla. Alaves, who spent a year in the second division before being promoted, also scored twice in the opening period in a game that ended at two apiece thanks to goals from Ruben Duarte and Luis Rioja.
