Sherwood thinks Tottenham have never managed to replace Dembele

Sherwood revealed he does not understand why Spurs sold the 36-year-old back in 2019 when speaking to the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast. Certainly, Mousa Dembele has a case for being one of the Premier League era's underappreciated midfielders. He arrived from Fulham and went on to play 250 times in all competitions for Tottenham.

He undoubtedly had a significant impact on Tottenham's transformation into a Premier League championship challenger. A few months after his departure, he was a part of the squad that advanced to the Champions League final. He never fully earned the accolades he undoubtedly deserved due to the way he played. And it's definitely accurate to argue that since he left, Tottenham has never been as powerful in the centre of the park. It has to be said that Dembele’s career did appear to be in decline by the time he moved on.
