What Swedish manager Lars Lagerback has been able to accomplish with the Iceland national team is so unique, that many of the clubs around Europe will start looking to sign many of the players who shined at the Euros all the way until the quarter finals. To a player such as Sigurdsson who led his teammates into a successful sporting story, many of his teammates will be eager to give the big jump to some of the best clubs in European football but the league they know the most is the Premiership.
Talking to the press, he thinks that's the way many of them will choose and has high hopes for the World Cup qualifiers: "All of the players want to play in the Premier League. I think it's about being in the right place at the right time. If someone wants to take a chance then I would definitely say give them a go. They are good guys, good personalities and good players. It's been a fantastic three or four weeks for us and it’s up to the players if they want to experience this again.
"We've got the qualifiers coming up for the Russia World Cup and I hope we can go all the way there. I'm pretty sure [coach] Heimir [Hallgrimsson] will do a good job even if it is sad seeing someone like [former co-coach] Lars Lagerback leaving. He was part of something special."
