Southampton see off West Ham to win by 3-2

Southampton put on a brave performance on Boxing Day and left East London with all three points after their 3-2 win against West Ham United. The match seemed neck to neck until Saints pulled clear with the winning goal by Jan Bednarek that gave Southampton a much-needed win on Sunday.

Southampton saw Mohamed Elyounoussi and James Ward-Prowse’s goals being canceled out by Michail Antonio and Said Benrahma in the second half as Southampton’s weak defense almost gave away all three points. Hasenhuttl’s side then dug deep and held their own as they fought off West Ham’s advances in search of a winner and handed David Moyes’ men a defeat at the London Stadium. Saints climb into 14th place on the Premier League table with 20 points so far in the season.
