Southampton won 2-0 over Newcastle United

Steve Bruce’s side failed to overcome Southampton’s defense and the Magpies lost 2-0 to them at St Mary's. Newcastle gifted them goals on the silver platter and Bruce was furious with the team’s performance who failed to look after their ball. Karl Darlow failed to save Stuart Armstrong’s goal in the latter half and Southampton managed their lead quite early in the game when Che Adams scored in the 7th minute. With the win, Southampton moved to first place in the Premier League. Even when Saints were without Danny Ings their leading scorer who was injured in last week's match against Aston Villa and underwent knee surgery.
