Spain edged out Switzerland 1-4 in Geneva

The reigning Nations League and Euro champions got off to a solid start at a wet Stade de Geneve with a fourth-minute goal from Joselu.

Switzerland thought they had equalised through Omeragic in the sixth minute but the goal was disallowed for offside. Then, in the 13th minute, Ruiz doubled Spain’s lead as the visitors caused all sorts of problems for the hosts.

However, in the 20th minute, Spain were reduced to 10 players after Le Normand was sent off for a silly challenge on Swiss attacker Embolo.

Switzerland made good use of the numerical advantage and pulled one back through Amdouni in the 41st minute, but couldn’t add more goals in the second half, as Spain kept the hosts’ attackers at bay.

Ruiz completed his brace in the 77th minute before substitute Torres scored the fourth goal in the 80th, as the Spaniards walked off with three points.
