Spanish league: Espanyol defeats Cádiz 2-0

Espanyol was buoyed with its stunning victory against La Liga leaders Real Madrid and kept the momentum going with a 2-0 win over Cádiz on Monday. Raúl de Tomás and Nico Melamed clinched their third success in four matches.

The home triumph moved the newly-promoted club to the eleventh spot, as they extended Cádiz's winless streak to four matches to see off the team in the sixteenth spot. The opener came in the first-half injury time when De Tomás scored from a close range later in the second half Melamed added to the lead in the 65th minute before a second goal by De Tomás was ruled as offside in the 57th-minute. Espanyol’s stunning performance has amazed many in the Spanish League, as they climb the table with 12 points from 9 matches.
