Spezia have squashed Sampdoria 2-1

Spezia has defeated Sampdoria 2-1 in a Ligurian derby. This made them register successive triumphs for the first time in their debut Serie A season. It was also Spezia's first home victory. This was followed on from their defeat of Napoli last week.

M'Bala Nzola converted a 61st-minute penalty for the winners. It happened after a header from Claudio Terzi, Spezia captain which put the hosts ahead in the 20th. With an acrobatic volley, Antonio Candreva balanced for Samp at 24 minutes. However, the match was an entertaining affair. There, both sides were trying to put their best foot forward.

Spezia moved to 14th. It means five points clear of the drop zone. Samp remained at 11th position. Sampdoria has not been able to keep a clean sheet in their last 18 away league matches. They suffered such a long run in 1956. It was with 24 in a row.
