Sunderland shocked West Ham 3-0

Sunderland shocked West Ham 3-0 on their comeback to the Premier League, while Richarlison scored twice to give Tottenham manager Thomas Frank a dream home debut victory over Burnley. Before a late comeback by Paris Saint-Germain won the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday, Frank was only seconds away from starting his tenure as manager with a trophy. Even though the Australian ended Spurs' 17-year trophy drought by winning the Europa League, the former Brentford manager took Ange Postecoglou's place.

However, Tottenham ended just above the relegation zone in 17th place last season, and Postecoglou was undone by a dismal return of six home league victories. The Brazilian turned in a cross from Mohammed Kudus to open the score, and Richarlison took full advantage of Frank's confidence in him.
