Tevez thinks Messi retired because of AFA

With all the legal problems that the Argentine Football Association (AFA) is going through for corruption charges, Lionel Messi was aware of the hot mess they were and decided to step off the Argentina National team until they fix that. At least that's the analysis Carlitos Tevez made about Messi's decision from last Sunday, it has been a week and we still have a long way to go filled with drama and many other statements in this incredibly shameful moment Argentine football is going through.

The Argentina international's different theory doesn't sound so crazy when you look at things from a different perspective, there wasn't really a big reason why Messi would just give up like that. He is a natural born winner and instead of just leaving everything like that doesn't really fit in his MO, plus this decision had already been made before last Sunday's final against Chile. So suddenly Tevez's statements to TyC Sports make more sense.

He said: "The AFA is an absolute mess. Leo sees the players breaking their backs for the shirt and sees the AFA neglecting them. We have to put ourselves in his position. He is tired, and that's normal. I also got tired of the national team a few times. We have to give him time. It is obvious that we need him. After a few games have passed and everything at the AFA is a bit more organized, perhaps the national team can seduce him back - and we will be waiting for him."
