According to widespread reports across the Spanish press, the two governing bodies have settled on Real Madrid's stadium as the venue for the intercontinental clash. Only minor logistical and security details remain to be finalised before the official announcement is made.
The fixture will still be played on 27 March and will remain in Europe. Organisers were forced to reconsider the original plan of staging the match at Lusail Stadium in Doha due to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, prompting the search for an alternative venue.
From the outset, the Bernabeu had been viewed as one of the strongest candidates. Negotiations accelerated after several matches linked to the Qatar Football Festival were rearranged, allowing UEFA, CONMEBOL and Real Madrid to move closer to a final agreement.
For the Spanish club, hosting the meeting between the European champions and the Copa America winners would represent a prestigious occasion.
