The victory for Stuttgart boosts Champions League ambitions

With a 2-0 victory against Union Berlin at home, VfB Stuttgart who is in third place, drew closer to Bayern Munich and strengthened their chances of qualifying for the Champions League. Serhou Guirassy, the team's top scorer, opened the scoring in the 19th minute. Then, in the 65th minute, midfielder Chris Fuhrich, who is vying for a position in Germany's Euro 2024 team, secured the victory with an incredible finish. Andras Schafer, a midfielder for Hungary, was sent off for a knee-high tackle shortly after Union fell behind 2-0, which did not assist the team. They are now 14th on the table.

Stuttgart has emerged as the surprise team of the Bundesliga season after years of being embroiled in dogfights for relegation. Stuttgart decided to extend Sebastian Hoeness's contract until 2027 as a reward for the team's performance, ending all the possibility that Bayern Munich will look to replace Thomas Tuchel with him.
