Thiago Motta reveals he made three ‘forced’ substitutions

Thiago Motta defends his tactical choices while admitting that he made three "forced" substitutions when Juventus lost to PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League. Having defeated PSV 3-1 in Turin previously in the league round of the competition, the Bianconeri held a 2-1 lead going into the first leg.

Lloyd Kelly was moved to central defence when Renato Veiga was substituted out due to injury after just 11 minutes, however several of Thiago Motta's replacements caused considerable controversy. Cambiaso was left in midfield after Manuel Locatelli and Teun Koopmeiners were substituted, but the coach explained why. Juventus had never previously been eliminated in the Champions League after winning the first leg, going through in the previous 11 occasions. Meanwhile, PSV Eindhoven had not won a Champions League knockout tie since 2006-07 against Arsenal.
