RB Leipzig head coach Ole Werner revealed Timo Werner will be reintegrated into the squad.
Werner was close to leaving Leipzig in the summer with a move to the MLS looking the most likely, but instead, he ended up rejecting the offer of sister club, New York Red Bulls. Werner is Leipzig’s highest-paid player, and his contract expires next summer. Now, Werner will become a part of the first team squad at the Red Bull Arena.
On the forward, the head coach, Werner, said: “We’ll wait for the final training session before we put together the squad.”
The 29-year-old has been absent for minor injury-related reasons, but it is possible that Werner could make his return against 1.FC Köln today.
The arrivals of Johan Bakayoko, Yan Diomande, Romulo and Conrad Harder in the summer mean that it is unlikely that Werner will play a big role in first team.
