Tottenham achieved a commanding 5-0 victory over Southampton

With a strong first half performance, Tottenham Hotspur defeated Southampton 5-0 at St. Mary's Stadium, regaining their winning ways. Spurs scored five goals in the first half of a Premier League game for the first time, with James Maddison opening the scoring in the first minute. Southampton was unable to bounce back from this early setback.

Tottenham's lead was swiftly increased by goals from Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski in the 12th and 14th minutes. Soon after, Pape Sarr scored another goal by taking advantage of Southampton's defensive errors. Maddison then gave Ange Postecoglou's team a much-needed comeback with a spectacular fifth goal in stoppage time to complete the first-half thumping. Tottenham had only won once in their last six league games, so this victory was very noteworthy.
