Tottenham Hotspur defeated Burnley 3-0

Richarlison scored twice as Tottenham Hotspur defeated Burnley, a newcomer, 3-0, giving head coach Thomas Frank a strong start to his first Premier League season.

Martin Dubravka of Burnley was the first goalie in the Premier League to get a penalty under the new regulations after he held onto the ball for eight seconds. As a result, Spurs were given a corner. Mohammed Kudus crossed from the right to give Tottenham the lead in the tenth minute. The ball bounced once before Richarlison headed it into the bottom-left corner of Dubravka's goal. For the remainder of the half, Frank's team posed little threat, allowing Burnley to gain ground. However, a brilliant moment from Richarlison gave Spurs the lead when Kudus squirmed free down the right and threw in a cross for the Brazilian, whose acrobatic volley gave Dubravka no chance. Six minutes later, Brennan Johnson added a third.
