Tottenham Hotspur are targeting Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin, reportedly preparing a bid between €12 million and €15 million. However, Real Madrid intend to reject any winter approach, as they are unwilling to let the Ukrainian leave mid-season. The club deems it too risky to rely on untested academy players to back up Thibaut Courtois during crucial stages of the campaign.
While Madrid see Lunin as a future long-term successor to Courtois, they may discuss a transfer next summer only if the player insists on leaving. For now, coach Xabi Alonso has assured the 26-year-old, who has yet to feature in an official match this season, that he will start every game in the Copa del Rey. Consequently, Lunin is expected to stay until at least the end of the season.
