Tottenham Hotspur are re-entering the race for Omar Marmoush, planning a new enquiry to check Manchester City’s position there. Pursuing ambitious attacking reinforcements for the new year, Spurs have widened their search after a failed bid for Antoine Semenyo, as head coach Thomas Frank demands more goal threats.
Having previously discussed Marmoush during last summer's Savinho negotiations, similar talks are re-emerging. The Egyptian forward, currently at the Africa Cup of Nations, fits Tottenham's requirement for direct attacking output. Although his starts at City have been limited this season prompting Spurs' preliminary checks, sources near the champions suggest a mid-season transfer is highly unlikely. City hesitate to weaken their squad while fighting on several fronts, especially since Marmoush only arrived a year ago for €70 million from Eintracht Frankfurt. While Savinho and Oscar Bobb are seen as more probable exits, the situation regarding Marmoush is expected to become clearer publicly soon.
