This is not a bold statement, Juventus FC really is one of the most competitive sides in football today. They proved it many times over the past couple of years. They defeated Real Madrid in the semifinals back in 2015 and reached the Champions League final against FC Barcelona, they also played a very exciting quarterfinal match-up against Bayern Munich and nearly won but lost to little details.
So saying that they actually are among the best teams in Europe is not ludicrous at all, they have some of the best players and they are constantly competing to be the best. They have dominated Serie A for the past five years and are looking pretty strong in the upcoming season, Juventus could be one of the top contenders in the Champions League this season too.
During a sit down with Tuttosport, former Juventus striker David Trezeguet said that he believes Juve is one of the best teams in Europe: "I agree 100 percent with Allegri that Juventus are at the same level as Bayern, Barcelona and Madrid. Those are the four top teams in Europe. The arrival of players such as Pjanic and Dani Alves shows that Juventus have reached the highest level. Those players clearly understand our goals and want to play their part. Dani Alves made it clear that he wanted to join Juventus and that says a lot. If players of his caliber join the club, that shows people believe in this project.
He also agreed that it's important for Juventus to hold on to Paul Pogba for the time being: "There is no need to hide the fact that the Champions League is very important to us. We want the Scudetto, Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana, but the Champions League is very important. It is important to hold on to Pogba and Bonucci because they are an integral part of a team that is still growing."
