Tuchel offers Manchester United little hope of replicating Chelsea resurgence

The German does not want to be considered an inspiration to chairmen with itchy trigger fingers, despite the remarkable turnaround he has overseen since replacing Frank Lampard in January.

Even on the back of May’s Champions League triumph and a start to the season that has Chelsea top of the Premier League by three points, he insists it is no guaranteed route to glory.

Ahead of Tuesday night’s clash with Juventus, Tuchel gave little encouragement to United that they could repeat his feat of turning a crisis into glory after dismissing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Sunday.

He said: “Is this the question, really, if somebody else copies that? If so, everybody sacks the coach now in January to win the Champions League.

Whether he likes it or not, Tuchel has become the example of what can be achieved with a well-executed managerial change.
