Union Berlin grabbed a surprise 1-1 draw against Napoli in the Champions League on Wednesday, snapping a 12-game losing streak in all competitions - but it wasn't enough to keep the Bundesliga side's dreams of reaching the last-16 alive.
The hosts controlled the first half and appeared to have grabbed the lead via André-Frank Zambo Anguissa, but the goal was ruled out by VAR due to a foul by Giovanni Di Lorenzo. Napoli found their lead when Matteo Politano scored just before halftime, redirecting Mario Ru's cross home at the near post in the 39th minute. There was still time for Josep Juranovic to hit the base of the post with a free kick just before halftime, and Union would go on to equalize seven minutes later. David Datro Fofana passed the ball to Sheraldo Becker, whose effort was palmed away by Alex Meret, allowing Fofana to score from the edge of the box.
