Union Berlin cruised to a win against Cologne by 2-1

Liverpool Loanee Taiwo Awoniyi scored his first goal for Union Berlin for the season to record a 2-1 win against Cologne at RheinEnergieStadion. Ex Nigeria U23 international player put in just 220minutes on the field in a total of 6 matches but pulled off an incredible goal for Berlin to further their winning cause. Awoniyi scored in the 27th minute by pushing past goalkeeper Horn

Ellyes Shkiri though leveled for the home team and by the end of the first half, the match could have gone in any favor. It wasn’t until the 72nd minute when Max Kruse netted the winning goal for Union Berlin after his penalty was denied a minute earlier. Cedric Teuchert then replaced Awoniyi on the field. On the other side of Bundesliga hat trick by Jean-Philippe Mateta in the first half itself helped Mainz win by 3-1 against SC Freiburg.
